The idea of being "locked in" implies that we see ourselves and earth with new eyes. The option of failure or colonizing Mars are out of the question. And, by committing to earth as our only homeland, we raise our chances of successfully emerging a global community with a culture that works for the benefit of all life. Attitude is the key. The locked in key is a symbol of that attitude.
