If we study the evolution of consciousness on Earth, we can see a steady progression toward expanded and extended identity. We have enlarged our levels of concern from family, to tribe, city, state and nation. Now, it appears we have stalled at nationhood! If we wish to survive, we shall need to take the next step, and embrace the whole living planet.
